The Design Process

Taking you from first contact to a beautiful end product.

Working with Me

If you’ve never worked with a designer before, it can be a bit confusing to know how it all works, especially if you don’t know what all the jargon means. In this page I’ll break down what the process will look like and what you can expect from working with me. I can illiustrate this to you with a real world example of the process I went through with one of my clients to achieve their end goal.

As always if you have any questions, or you’re ready to start out journey together, comeon over to the cotnact page and we can start talking!

1. Contact

You get in touch with me and tell me your ideas. I’ll provide a brief sheet questionnaire so I get all the details of what you need.

2. Quote

Once I know exactly what it is you need, I can give you an idea of how much it wil cost. If your budget is limited sometimes we’ll agree a set price.

3. Sketch

If you’re happy with the price, we can start work. After researching your orginsation and your values, I sketch out some designs, usually on paper, and send you over a range of ideas.

4. Mockup

Once you’;ve picked your favourite designs, I create a digital mockup of your project. For websites I will first provide a wireframe of the user interface before adding the designs in.

5. Implementation

For graphics, this stage finalises the designs and finishes any small revisions you have. For websites, this stage is the move from a picture to a live website built in HTML and CSS.

6. Training & Delivery

If your project requires any training, such as how to update your website, I’ll show you and provide you with documents to support you in the long term use of your project. I’ll then deliver all your files along with the project invoice.

Case Study: The Joy Machine

Jo from The Joy Machine got in contact with me in April. I'd helped her previously by making her ecommerce shop look like her exisiting site, but now she wanted an entire image rebrand, which I was only too happy to provide!

We met up in a coffee shop, ate pancakes and discussed what she needed from her website, what look she was going for, her budget and what her content would be. I took a lot of notes, and when I was ready to review it, I drew out an initial sketch. I wanted to incorporate the imagery from her flyers and her facebook cover photo but also make sure all the bright colours looked professional.

She told me she loved it so I drew out a digital mockup which was quickly turned into her new website!
